Frederick Cemetery Restoration Project Update

Great news! The cemetery cleanup held on Saturday, October 16, 1999, was a total success. We had five adults and one young person that helped (photos posted below).

The cemetery was surveyed by the Columbiana County Engineers Office. They pinned the 4 corners, and will eventually pin the center-line of the right-of-way, after the Trustee's decide how to handle the cost of clearing. Stay tuned for further information. I met with Brent Winslow, the County surveyor, Thursday, October 14, 1999, at the cemetery. Together we marked the four corner pins with "Pink" engineers tape (see photos below).

I put up new markers at the graves of Thomas and his son's John and Samuel, noting that they are all veterans. All signs were updated. Once the stone repair work begins I intend to make a request to the Department of Veterans Affairs for "Bronze Veterans Markers".

We are going to plan on putting an Iron Fence around the immediate burying ground. I have received an offer from a neighbor, Leon Stitt (he lives in the John Frederick II home, and is a welder), to help with the fence.

Tree goes down. Another successful felling. With Michael's professional help we removed about twenty trees. This will allow us to have un-impeded access to the stones to effect repairs.
