SCHMIDT

I descend from Michael Schmidt and Margaret Bader. Michael Schmidt was my paternal grandmother's grandfather. He arrived in the United States circa 1872, and settled in Millersburg, Holmes Co., Ohio.

Michael Schmidt arrived with children, but no wife; the theory is that he was a widower (not proved). Shortly after arriving, he married Margaret Bader, who it turns out, was from the same region of Germany as Michael. Was this an arranged marriage? I do not know at this time.
